Northern Ireland's Michael O'Neill made a number of changes for the match against Ukraine in Lyon.
Both teams lost their opening games and went into this game without a goal scored.
Northern Ireland did press in numbers from the start but seemed to rush themselves a little in the final third.
Ukraine's Konoplyanka and Yarmolenko were kept quiet though, so both teams went into the break without having scored a goal during 135 minutes of football at this tournament.
Half-time: Ukraine 0 - Northern Ireland 0
The deadlock was finally broken, shortly after the break, with a powerful flying header by Gareth McAuley; from an Oliver Norwood free-kick, floated in from the left.
Northern Ireland's momentum was momentarily halted when the heavens opened and hailstones the size of golf balls dropped from the darkened sky; forcing the referee to take the players off for a couple of minutes.
Thanks to the six minutes of time added on, Northern Ireland doubled their score through Aberdeen's Niall McGinn.
Respect to the boys in green for not trying to run the clock down but do something positive with the extra minutes.
Group C in Lyon.
