France kicked off the 2016 Festival of European Football in Paris.
And what better way to get the festival rolling than a can-canning opening ceremony; with an equally popular Vie en Rose rendition.
Vive la France.
Within four minutes, Romania found France's weakness; their defence. Hugo Lloris was called into action; down on his bum, to keep the line clear.
That little excitement came way too early though.
It needed to liven up in the second-half.
Half-time: France 0 - Romania 0
Sure the first-half had its moments; but it was hardly a festival of football.
Sadly, for fans of fantasy football, it took almost an hour for the deadlock to be broken. Giroud the man; with an assist from Payet.
A penalty leveled the score.
Lloris sort of wiggled and rooted himself to the middle. Not the way to stop a spot-kick that goes to the left or right.
Having had an awesome season for West Ham, Dimitri Payet almost broke into tears when he was substituted, after firing in what was to be the winning goal for the hosts, on the opening day of Le Festival.
With some third-placed teams going through to the knockout stage; three points is almost a ticket to the next round.
Group A in Paris.
