I am an adventurer from the Himalayan country of Nepal. I was born in Kathmandu, Nepal and also went to school and attended degree in tourism from the university in Kathmandu. I love reading travel journal and books related to adventures and spiritualism. I have been leading treks and tours in the Himalayas for over two decades. Realizing the importance of sustainable tourism for preservation of Himalayan nature and culture, me and my colleague started a tour company 'i Tour Nepal' in 2011. We have been successfully leading sustainable tours in the Himalaya till the date.
Sustainable Himalayan Tours
In the pretext of 'Visit Nepal Year 2020', we request all stake holders to execute sustainable tourism practices to optimize tourism potential of the country. Our tourism is seasonal and is limited to certain attractions like Mt Everest, Chitwan national park and Annapurna region. While these places see more tourists during the peak season of Autumn and Spring, other season remains quiet.
With the target of doubling the no of tourists in the year 2020, government need to regulate tourist in popular destinations and encourage them to visit more remote and new trails such as Makalu, Kanchanjunga, Rolwaling and Dhaulagiri.
Because of tourist overflow in the months of October / November and April, the trails of Everest and Annapurna become chaos. The situation in Sauraha of Chitwan national park is the same. The crowd makes the services scarce during those months. So it is necessary to increase permit price during the peak tourist season and reduce it for buffer season or off season.
Similarly making road access and accommodation better and reduced permit price for the trekking trail heads of Makalu, Kanchanjunga and other remote treks, increase tourists in the region.
There are also many new trails based on community lodges and homestay. It is necessary to provide training for locals for better cultural experiences of the tourists and also for the safe travel.
It is also important to preserving touring destinations for those tourist who come for more relaxing holiday. Nepal tour visits villages and hill stations for cultural immersion experiences and the Himalayan view.
