There are hundreds of hiking, walking, and biking trails, as well as challenging mountain hikes all over the island. I highly recommend Mount Albert Edward for an overnight hiking trip for spectacular views and a bit of a challenge.
For the wine lover, there are wineries all over the island, and particularly in the Cowichan Valley - including award-winners.
For the beer lover, parts of Vancouver Island, and especially Victoria, has been named the micro-brewery capital of Canada.
